About Globetech
It all started on a taxi boat in Singapore
Back in 1998 one of Globetech's four future founders installed his first laptop on a ship — to raised eyebrows from the captain. An IT man on board a vessel was an unusual sight.
A few years later the founders saw the enormous potential in digitalising the maritime industry, and that it would take round-the-clock focus, dedication and support. The starting gun went off in 2010, on a taxi boat in Singapore. Globetech was established the year after.
Fifteen years on we still equip and support vessels with state-of-the-art IT solutions tailored to their operations. We have not just witnessed the technological revolution at sea — we have lived it, and we intend to live the next twenty years of it too.
In 2023 the crew passed 20 people, and the City of Kristiansand named us Inclusive Company of the Year, with 20 % of our employees hired through inclusive work arrangements. The same year we started looking for a long-term growth partner.
In 2024 Globetech became part of Nekkar ASA. In 2025 we made our first acquisition: Firstpoint in Gdynia, Poland, now Globetech Poland. In August 2026 we bought 60 % of Satco AS in Sandnes, adding navigation, communication and CCTV systems to what we deliver. Today we are teams in Kristiansand, Sandnes and Gdynia, building a complete platform for maritime ICT services.
