Crew Wi-Fi
Crew welfare that never competes with the bridge.
A user-friendly system that lets the crew take control of their own Wi-Fi. Every crew member gets a personal account and can create guest accounts for port authorities, service engineers and other visitors. Fleet managers or officers set the rules, and daily limits stop a handful of users from filling the welfare network. Combined with a well-configured ship firewall, it reduces usage and improves the experience on the vessel's internet connection.
What you get
- Personal accounts, plus guest accounts for port authorities and service engineers
- Daily, weekly or monthly limits on data and connection time, and on devices per user
- Personal dashboard for each user: quotas, password change and logout
- Operator tools: create logins, assign profiles, disconnect heavy users, see top users
- Category-based web filter with blacklists and whitelists
- Works with most Wi-Fi access points; runs on a FortiGate firewall, a VMware ESXi server and VLANs
Frequently asked questions
Who decides the rules?
Fleet managers or the crew officers. They set daily, weekly or monthly data quotas, connection-time limits and how many devices each account may use.
What does it need on board?
A FortiGate firewall, a VMware ESXi server and VLANs on the network switches. It works with most Wi-Fi access points, and VesselNet vessels already have the platform.
